No he won't be as good. First he isn't as good on the track and I don't think he will get there. Part of that is the sport though. You can't race like Dale Sr. did anymore. They would claim it is being overly reckless and park you if you started driving like that now. Dale Sr. was able to somewhat keep doing it as he know the limits as well as having a certain reputation. The other thing is what Dale Sr. did for the sport. Dale Jr. would never be able to do as much for the sport because there proably isn't that much left to do in that sense. Remember Dale Sr. really helped bring the marketing in by the way he made himself a brand. I think he can be as good as The Intimidator, even better. Why? 1. Dale Sr. was a 7-time NASCAR Champ, but he never turn right (F1, 24 Hours of Le Mans, WRC), and I think Jr. can do that. 2. Even if he got a lot of skills, he was more valuate as a hero than a driver. 3. If you see now, the championships didn't go to the most aggresive driver (Montoya, Tracy, Harvick, Gronholm), but to the most constant drivers (Alonso, Bourdais, Loeb, Kristensen, Kenseth). 4. jr is a different kind of driver than his dad.i feel bad for the poor kid. everyone just expected him to come into this sport and dominate b/c he was an earnhardt..and when he didn't it became a "he sucks" issue. he's a decent enough driver, but he'll never be his dad, which is good, b/c i don't think he wants to be.. i think he wants to be his own person. he will have his own history..and i'm sure he'll have some moments to go down in the books, but i don't think he'll ge tto his father's records..
