What is the engine called that doesn't need to mix gas and oil together?
I want to know if there is a word or bame that describes an engine that doesn't need gas and oil to be mixed, but instead has a seperate gas tank and oil tank!!!

It`s an oil injected 2-stroke that you must use an injector safe 2-stroke oil with, or it`s a 4-stroke with a dry sump system which has an oil tank.Unlike a wet sump 4-stroke where the engine oil is poured into the crankcase.If it is the 4-stroke dry sump system you should try to get yourself a manual for it so you know how to properly check the oil level due to the fact that most dry sump motorcycle engines require that you let the engine idle for 5 minutes (without revving it up at all) in order to get a proper reading.the honda trx 400ex,and the honda aquatrax watercraft are a couple examples of this.OK to tell wether or not it`s a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke, if it has a plastic tank for the oil with 1 rubber line running from it to the carburator, or somewhere real close to it, like the intake manifold, then it`s a 2-stroke.These usually wont have a dipstick either.
If it has 2 lines with metal fittings and a banjo bolt with a crush washer on both sides of each line it`s a 4-stroke wet sump engine.this is not to be confused with an oil cooler that will have 2 lines and same fittings but go from the engine to what looks like a small radiator without a cap(which is essentially what it is).
One other tell tale is how the engine sounds if it sounds like a chainsaw it`s a 2-stroke.If it sounds like a riding lawnmower it`s a 4-stroke.
Also a 2-stroke exhaust pipe will get alot bigger about 5 to 6 inches after leaving the exhaust port.By alot I mean it will go from a 1 3/4 in. dia. to 7 or 8 in. dia. and then taper down to a small dia of approx. 3/4 in. dia.
A 4-stroke pipe will be the same size dia. all the way back to the muffleron a single cylinder, or to where the individual pipes of a multi cylinder engine come together then get slightly bigger before the muffler or megaphone on old inline 4 headers like Kerker or MAC .

4 cycle or 4 stroke engineWell normally it would be considered a 4 stroke or a oil injected 2 stroke- like on a 78 yamaha automatic 70cc- depends on the oil tank actually ..if its a plstic tank connecting to the motor by a tube-consider it a 2stroke oil injectection system- but if its resevoir is part of the entirity of the bike- more than likely 4stroke.
