Is 235 horsepower a good amount for a luxury car?

You have to be careful about the advertised horsepower. They list the maximum horsepower on the engine and usually it is at the top of the RPM limit, that translates into a weak power performance at lower rpms off the line and although you might see 235 HP it's at 5000 RPM with the engine screaming quite unhappily. My car is 445 HP with a supercharger, but it's only 445 HP in the "power band" 3500-5000 RPM. If you were to dyno test it it's more like 300 hp off the line.So your 235 HP is only 235 when you have brought the engine up to max rpm and you wont see that off the line. Dont worry the mustang suffers from the same problems. You need to be looking at foot pounds of torque delivered at the drive wheels, measured from idle to full engine output for an accurarate comparision.
