Should Renault be playing it safe in Brazil?
A de-tuned engine is an unknown quantity and that's what they will race with in Brazil. Shouldn't they stick with the strategy that obviously works instead of messing around?

Why do Formula1 drivers check their weight after each race?
It doesn't matter what sport it is, the strategy of "playing it safe" often backfires. Even though the drivers are individuals, I consider F1 a team sport. If the Renault team adopts a play it safe strategy for the Brazilian race, they could very well find that an all out effort by the Ferrari team could cost them the drivers and manufacturers championships. Are Denny Hamlin , Martin Truex Jr, and Clint Bowyer the real deal?
i think brazil is like japan circuit, the bridgestone tires will perform better so Ferrari would be stronger. but alonzo needs only 1 point to win in case Schumi wins 1rst place. I don't think anything will happen to the renault (i'm praying that it breaks down though lol). I just hope Briatori remembers how much he loved Schumi and how many times he went up the podium with Schumi in the early 90s and that Briatori does something to Alonzo's car lol.May the best man (Schumi) win

bridgestone had graining in Suzuka circuit. Hope they have better outing this time. By prediction: Alonso will press the switch off button at the start of the race lol!I don't think Renault will use a de-tuned engine at the Brazilian Grand Prix, they just wont run the same spec engine used at the Japanese Grand Prix (neither will Ferrari) as it is the spec that will be used now for several years and it's well known that all the engine manufacturers rushed to have one ready for Japan.
Renault and Ferrari will use a specification (engine) that proved reliable earlier in the season and, for obvious reasons, Renault won't push hard for the win, but will try and ensure that both drivers finish in the points, thus securing the drivers title for Alonso and the constructors' title for the team.

ofcourse they have to be very careful. What's the fastest street legal car on the market?
They will not use a 'de-tuned' engine, they will probably run a proven earlier version of the '06 spec.During the race Alonso will be able to re-map the engine performance to suit the amount of power required at any given time via a toggle switch mounted on the steering wheel. That will enable him to remain in the points and not stress the engine unnecessarily.
I'd like to see Alonso win - he deserves to - but I feel that he will simply guarantee his championship by playing it safe running in the points.
