What is the big s*** your pants about Hamilton and why is he suddeny going to become world champion?
Question:I mean first McLaren make him out to be some legendario even before he even had a full GP weekend
he has a good car underneath him - granted!
however lets face it F1 is obvious to predict year in year out so we knew he would be at the front because McLaren is a top team and you will never find a McLaren or Ferrari langusihing in 13th place 4 seconds off the pace for example it just doesnt happen
so why is Hamilton suddenly being tipped as a world title winner this year I mean even Lauda has jumped on the bandwagon it really peeves me off not just because im a ferrari fan (im part Italian) but really F1 is so much about the car and the driver is just the cherry on the cake
its the car thats making him look good not Lewis himself and if your going to throw Istanbul park last year at me then fine but really when all is said and done if he were in e.g. a RedBull he would be getting slated for being an awful driver

Facts are facts...The kid is off to one hell of a start. A rookie..and 3 podium finishes? In a row?? No I am not a Hamilton fan...Im a Scott Speed fan..Mainly because Im an american but you have to give credit where credit is due. Of course they're going to hype him up.Well Hamilton's honeymoon period may soon be over when he falls off of the tarmac. Then they'll jump down his throat. Main reason he's Mr Sunshine, especially in the UK is that Jenson and "the Unfortunate Scot" (aka DC) aren't exactly setting the world on fire. One thing Hamilton has got going for him is that unlike Kimi he doesn't need a personality transplant. I think if Schumi had stayed another year he'd still be cleaning everybody's clock.
Well those things you list aren't a given, not any more anyway. McLaren have had MAJOR reliabitily issues over the last few years and with the switch about of drivers pretty much everywhere, it's been near impossible to tell who was gonna be on top. OK, McLarens and Ferraris were always gonna be there but who'd have thought BMW and even Williams would be doing so well?! Everyone thought this could be Hondas year and where are THEY?!
This year is the most open year for about 10 years now that Schumacher has left, it could very easily go any way between Alonso, Kimi and Massa - the addition of Hamilton just spices it up!

Firstly becuase he's black (not being racist but that is part of the hype).Secondly he's British, us Brits always get carried away when we get a decent sportsman examples: Jenson Button and Tim Henman.
Hamilton is a talented driver who appears down to Earth (unlike Jenson) and more importantly he has a competitive car. He won't win it this year or next but if he continues to learn and improve then he has a great chance in the future
In case you havent noticed, advertising is the main reason why F1 exists and no one would let go of a chance to be in the headlines. Hamilton brings in a lot of factors that favor advertisement.
For me, F1 is mostly what happens on the Sunday afternoon and so far I havent seen Hamilton do anything spectacular (something that any of the new comers wouldnt do if they were given the McLaren)
A champion is not just a fast driver he is the one who does more than expected. Let us see as the season unfolds how Hamilton measures up. He will be a champion the year he beats Alonso on track when both have good (undamaged) cars.

Well realistically he is in third place after three races,i mean being a rookie that is quite an impressive feat that realistically everbody is beginning to talk about him as a possible winner this year,yes he is driving a superior car but still he is a rookie and being a rookie its hard to cope with pressure,i mean eversince he entered f1 it seems like everbody is keeping a watchful eye on him,that alone is a big burden on his shoulder and to add to that there where instances where he was faster than alonso.But i think he not going to win this year yet but he will figure prominently among the top 3The truly greatest car of all time is?

Ron Dennis has been in the game a LOT longer than you or I have been wathcing F1...and he knows his stuff.
The telemetry says it all about a driver(besides the results)...balance, smoothness, etc.
He MUST have the right stuff is Ron says so...look at KIMI, the risk they took on him? The guy was AWESOME, except the reliability was not there, and KIMI was a rookie...

Talent he has.. but I think the drivers get to much credit and blame in modern F1. Team and Hardware make a huge difference, put Hamilton on Spyker.he is a good driver you plonker. how long you been a fan of f1. granted the car helps but you must be good to use it

Oh well, the media is all about Hamilton because:1 Rookie who does exceptionally well in his debut races makes good headlines. But the season's barely started so we'll see if he keeps up the form.
2 His team-mate is two-time youngest World Champion Fernando Alonso, And he has been matching Alonso and at time even outdoing him. Wait till Fer strikes back. When? I dunno.
3 It's been quite a while since the British have had a World Champion (last was Damon Hill, 1996. From then it was a canadian 1997 Jacques Villeneuve, 1998-1999 Finnish Mika Hakkinen, 2000-2004 German Schumi and 2005-2006 Spain's fernando Alonso). So maybe everyone (esp the British) want a british champion as Britain is one of the racing powerhouses.
Apart from that I can't think of anytmore reasons. Hamilton is still young and has made a sensational debut but as to world champion, that takes time.

I believe you need the whole package yes a lot is the car but it cant drive itself round the tracks the drivers have a lot of input, im also a ferrari fan and massively support Michael Schumacher (or used to) Lewis Hamilton has a lot of his qualities including the talent which is why he has been predicted to be a champion i hope he does but its very early days yet, i'll be watchingWho do you root for in NASCAR?
it's the british media going ga-ga over their british boy, they do it every time, button, davidson, coulthard (although when he mucks up he is scottish, lol)the boy is good, but lets wait and see.
