How does NASCAR decide where you pit at each race?!?
I would like to know how they decide where the cars pit each race. Is it a draw or how they finished or do they get to pick where they get to pit each race each week.

pit selection is normally done by the crew chiefs. they all get to pick their pit in order of their qualifying. if you notice chad knauss will always be walking around pit lane during the races. he is one very deep though crew chief. he's looking for simple things like a crack in the pavement, or a bump..ya know, something that can catch up the jack or something.. they also measure (b/c sometimes you can find that extra 1/8th of an ince to make the difference) to make sure their driver's have a better position to get in and out, and also get out quicker w/o speeding..As to which one gets picked by the top qualifiers depends on the track. Some tracks it's better to get into the first spot, some last, some mid-way in where there is the split.. It all depends on the tack, and where the guys ahead of you pick.

Before each race, weather permitting, there is a qualifying process to select the starting order. the top qualifying position is called the pole position and besides starting in front that driver gets first choice at pit location. Then the driver qualifying in second picks next and so fort until all drivers that qualified for that race have picked a pit position. Depending on the track and the layout of the pits there can be a significant advantage gained by pit position picked. Most race tracks the last pit position prior to exiting pit road is a choice site.
