Why does these 50 cars get to waist a whole lot of gas by going around a track 500 times.

well first of all, it is a sport industry that supports more than a few thousand jobs, plus the type of fuel that those cars use is not what you use in your everyday SUV, and if you are so worried about conserving energy-direct your efforts in a direction that would actually make a difference-direct it towards those SUV driving mothers that have a vehicle that will chauffeur around a whole soccer team, yet only one team member is riding in that one car-hello has anyone ever heard of car pooling, but no one will do this. Direct it toward people that jump into their car to run to the corner grocery store to get 1 item, when they could take 15 minutes of their time, walk to the same store to get the same item, and save gas doing it-but they gotta drive there. Direct your efforts toward the millions of people who drive to work everyday, when they could take a bus or carpool van, sure it isn't as convenient, but they are saving gas, saving energy, saving the earth. In the end, people will tell you that cutbacks need to be made, that sacrifices need to be made, they just forget that they could and should be the ones to do so, they think it should be done by everyone else but them.

because rednecks like things involving banjos and watching the NASCAR cars they wish they had racing. its not just NASCAR thats doing it. america is selfish. we drive big SUV and then go around talking about how we should save the rainforests or talk about global warming. yes there are people trying to find alternative fuel that will be able to replace oil but the technology of hybrid isn't advanced enough. and nobody knows what biofuel is. so unless our country is willing to stop thinking about themselves we can do something better besides wasting natural resources.
