it how honda names there bikes .cb is a road bike and they have used that moniker since the sixties .they also use cr for race bikes not just the dirt bikes either there was also the cr 750 road racer .i beleive cr stood for closed circiut racing meaning a closed off not on the road. race track ..the cbr being a street bike gets the cb name cuz it looks like a race bike they throw in the r .i think cb also originaly stood for commuter bike .there is also the rcb endurance racers of the late 70s. but they developed the cb 900 from that .the cbr is not a race bike but did win numerous club races in the usa .
