What would be the best modification i could do to my stock montero sport 4x4 to make it a better off roader?

If it isn't already lifted, put an 3"lift kit on it. Then you need good traction tires, I recommend TO YO Traction tires, I have a set and they are great! I am able to go farther with these tires than I could in my old Chevy w/snow chains, up in the mountains! You may want to increase your H/P. I changed my ehaust on my 93 Dakota to 3"w/a flow master muffler,my air filter to k&n, an hotter coil and "off road or mountian shocks. All these things really increased my H/P.
