6volt to 12volt?

Question:I have a 55 fairlane would like information on changeing the 6 volt system to a 12 volt.

I agree it could be pretty easy, but, I'd say it's hard to say how easy it is until you check into parts, wiring harnesses, brackets, etc. You will have to find an alternator / regulator and bracket that fit. Of course, all bulbs (and maybe sockets) will need to be replaced. I would check with Dennis Carpenter at www.dennis-carpenter.com. He has a .pdf that is titled the "Official 12 volt conversion guide"

It is realy very easy all you will need to do is change the olg genorator,starter,&coil then drop the voltage hedding up to your gauges so they will still opperate correctly
