I can only guess that it had something to do with my driving a rainbow colored car. Nope, Jeff Gordon is not gay. He's hetero, and I think he now has a girlfriend. The people who bash #24 using the word 'gay' have some huge issues! It seems like no one can say they don't like Jeff Gordon without using the 'gay rumor'!BTW Chester, just because Jeff Gordon uses proper English and has no trouble enunciating, that does not mean he's gay!! He was born in California and raised in Indiana, so he does not have a southern accent.

3. He is from California
4. He doesn't have a really really deep voice
5. He doesn't get in fights
6. He's politically correct
7. His racecar back in the 90s was multicolored; hence the name of his team was the "rainbow warriors"
Also, back a long time ago, Jeff had a girlfriend, his future wife (and now ex wife), but she was a Miss Winston girl, and there were rules that said that Miss Winston couldn't date drivers, so she and Jeff had to keep it a secret, so no one ever saw him around with a girl at the track, so Dale Earnhardt asked him if he was gay; hence the rumors started. Now no one thinks anything if ANOTHER driver doesn't have a girlfriend.
he is like the little kid that grew up and plays in mans man sport, but does not act like a mans man. He has the california attitude that does not make the southern sterotype of what they like in a driver.
I don't think they really think he is gay. I think they are hurling what they((!) think is the most offensive insult they can at him if they don't like him.
Given that a lot of fans feel animosity towards the drivers who represent competition for their driver, it's natural that the 'halo' effect kicks into gear, and they find a lot of things to criticize about drivers they are predisposed not to like. Some race fans jumped on the fact that his previous paint scheme was a rainbow, and his crew were dubbed the Rainbow Warriors. Since the rainbow is a symbol of the gay culture, that may have started the argument. Add to that that Jeff doesn't have the stereotypical Southern accent, and doesn't have the same high-testosterone mannerisms as some of the other drivers, and you have the conclusion on some people's part that he's gay. Then he gets divorced, and that's the clincher for a lot of people.
I don't believe he's gay, and furthermore, I don't really care. He's a great driver, and a great spokesperson for the sport.
I admit I'm a fan of his, but I also appreciate the driving talents of Tony Stewart who drives the car with a finesse that I think many NASCAR viewers miss.
(P.S. I'm a Ward Burton fan, and really hope he gets a ride SOON!)
I really, really dislike Jeff Gordon, but I hate it when people say he is gay. I'll admit that he is a great driver and deserves some respect.
