Does Baseball need to start using instant replay?

Question:On April 16, yesterday, Braves shortstop Chris Woodward fielded a ball stood on second and threw to first in time for a double play..however the umpire insisted that woodward didn't step on the second base bag and the braves only got 1 out. However the ump who made the call was in front of woodward and made the call without a good view..Woodward clearly got the double play

Fantasy question. i have reached my leagues minimum innings pitched for the week, (h to h), however..

no because it would break tradition

Why it is that some of the MLB teams have the players names on the jerseys and some dont.?

They should just get rid of the umps and make it all computerized.

Can anybody tell me the web site to order Texas Rangers tickets voucher for $39.99?

yes they need instant replay, but not really for situations like the one described...it is necessary for determining fair and foul balls and plays at home plate

baseball just doesn't it when it comes to making the correct decisions in games, they are the last major sport without instant replay involved and they could certainly use it...however, they are more concerned with the fact that it make games go longer and show complete ignorance...isn't getting the call right more important

Will the Cubs go all the way?

As can be seen by the replays that we can see at home, the umpires actually get it right more than 99% of the time. The thing is, some fans think that umpires must start from a point of perfection and then improve. That simply isn't possible. It's time for a reality check for those fans, not for instant replay.

Which MLB team has no African-American Players?

No. Not even if its my team that gets screwed

Pete rose the best mlb player of all time who wants to help ?

That's weird because most of the time the guy turning the double play at second doesn't even need to touch the bag. Most games that I have seen when a double play occurs the player just has to be around the bag and the ump will give him the benefit of the doubt. It's kind of hard to ask a player to tap a bag when another guy is bearing down on him, but thats just my opinion.

As far as instant reply goes, baseball doesn't need it. I can see where other sports may need it and use it but baseball definitely doesn't have room for it. Mistakes are made but umpires are so good. The things we see on television with instant reply and the game slowed down to hundredths of a second make me admire the umpire's ability to make close calls so accurately...most of the time.

What is the single season record for stolen bases in pro baseball?

Never. Replay doesn't belong in baseball. Can you imagine how long a baseball game would take if EVERY bang-bang play was reviewed?! Seriously there are ten-fifteen very close plays every game, and as another guy already mentioned, the umpires do a phenomenal job already, why slow the game down just to make sure of an out/safe, fair/foul, home run/fan interference, or any other possible replay situation? Baseball is the last remaining pure sport (steroids aside!) Let's keep it that way.

Can someone give me a link with the offical rules of the MLB draft?

No Way ! keep those gimmicks out of baseball. baseball has been ruined enough by Bud Selig.

How do I get a job with my favorite MLB team?

YES

THERE WAS A CALL IN TODAYS REDS/BREWERS GAME

Can the Oakland Athletics Win The MLB Championship?

NO. I saw the play a bit ago on SportsCenter and it looked like Woodward fielded the ball a split second after his right foot came off the second base bag. Also you could not tell if he had control of the ball as it hit his glove (which is where the umpire was looking).

Besides the Braves didn't score in the 9th so the point is moot. It would not have changed the outcome of the game.

Info on Wlm.(Bill) Lobdell who was pitcher for St. Loius Cardnials in the mid 1970's?

no

it would take forever to call a baseball game with instant replay, you gotta trust the human eye, it is right 90% of the time.

What is the bigger issue with Bonds his race or steroid use would he be criticized as bad if he was white?

NO!! instant replay would make the game take too long, break tradition and just make the game much less interesting too watch or play.. one of things that makes the game fun for me is when the umpire makes a bad call against you, the emotions you have, if instant replay was brought into baseball i would quit watching it

Derek Jeter.?
