walker played in a league which some historians now consider a major league but i don't believe it was the actual major leagues. he played for toledo which was a professional team but wasn't at the level as the majors was when jackie came into the league. it has nothing to do with the stats or anything like that. walker's brother actually played with him too in 1884. read the article on the link and it will give you a good explanation of everything.Because Fleet Walker didn't last very long and soon after all African American players were banned.
