He was traded to the Montreal Expos in 1969 from the Los Angeles Dodgers. He became an All-Star with the Expos during their maiden season. In addition, he was picked in the 1976 Expansion Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays in time for the 1977 season. He was also the Blue Jays' All-Star game representative as well. Not only is he the only player to play for both of Canada's MLB entries during their first seasons, Fairly is the only player to become an All-Star with both teams.
