I'd rather have David Ortiz. He is a great hitter, very clutch, and good in the clubhouse. He is someone everyone fears and likes at the same time. As long as he has someone great to protect him in the lineup, he's your best player. A-Rod is clutch once in a blue moon, makes defensive mistakes, and is not that good of a person to have in the clubhouse because he is not that popular among his teammates or the team's fans.

umm alex rodriguez by far because he actually plays a position david ortiz just goes up to the plate and mashes. Its so much easier for him because he only has to worry about one thing and that is hit while a rod has to focus on fielding and hitting. Just think how good a rod would be if he only hit. Also a rod is younger and has more spped than ortiz. A-Rod. Both of them have comparable stats in hitting. However, A-Rod completely dominates Papi with his defense. Papi is only a designated hitter meaning his skills with leather are very diminishable. Even if he plays, he's a 1B and there are just so many good hitting first basemen. A-Rod is a multiple gold glove winner, an award for defensvie excellence.Of course, however, you get what you pay for: A-Rod is the highest paid player in baseball.

i say arod he is amazing and hotTough. Arod plays in the field at either 3rd or natural SS and is awesome during the regular season. Big Papi is a DH who just hits. Although A-rod will end up a Hall of Famer, I would say Ortiz. He plays with heart and he is clutch when you need a big hit to win the game.

Tough question. I would have to say David Ortiz. He hits for power and smashes the ball. If arod gets a couple of homers he stops in thew miths of everything. When they need him hes not there when big papi is up pitchers are scared of him. Everytime when i watch the yankees play against Boston im always afraid of manny and Big Papi. No question that I would want A-Rod. David Ortiz is an incredible talent, but take Manny out of the line up and see how well he does. No one wants to face possibly the most productive RBI man of his time in a clutch situation. You'd rather take a chance against Ortiz. So Ortiz is going to get more pitches to hit. Ortiz is very good, but Manny is great. Which leads me to A-Rod. He is at the same elite level as Manny is as a hitter. In fact, A-Rod will likely break the home run record. It would be stupid to take Ortiz over A-Rod without someone hitting behind Ortiz. Oh and as everyone has said, A-Rod plays excellent defense, evidenced by his gold gloves. You have to take ARod. Their offensive numbers cancel each other out for the most part. Arod gets the nod in baserunning. Defense isnt even close.Alot is made of Papi being clutch and Arod choking in the playoffs but the truth is that teams avoid pitching to Arod like he is the plague in the postseason. Papi still gets fastballs because he has Manny behind him. David Ortiz may be a nicer guy, but if you want to win, ARod is your man to build around.
