But SERIOUSLY folks ... the Cy Young award was named AFTER Cy Young, MANY years after he retired from the game. So, while he was good enough to win his own award, it didn't exist in his time.
It didn't exist until 1956 when Don Newcome of the Brooklyn Dodgers won the award.
