In Your Opinion, Who Are The 3 Best Lead-Off Hitters Of All Time?
A strikeout is recorded with a "K" or sometimes a backwards K if they strikeout without swinging...not just a strike. Here's my cut and paste.
*The use of "K" for a strikeout was invented by Henry Chadwick, a newspaper journalist who is widely credited as the originator of the box score and the baseball scorecard.
*Mr. Chadwick decided to use "K", with "K" being the last letter in "struck."
How often do they change the design of the field in baseball?
I think the first answer is correct, but would just add that the use of the letter S would make it confusing when there is also the sacrifice bunt, which does get the letter S on a scorecard.Name back to back baseball mvp's at every possition. eg dale murphy / outfiield?
striKeoutits the middle letter
and S is already being used in a lot of stats
like saves(S), sacrifices (SAC), sacrifice bunts(SAC BUNT), steals (SB)
it is also the last letter in struck and i have heard from many people that that is how it started as well.
