Why can't the RED SOX update their home stadium and put a retractable dome in case of rain?
Question:Look at other teams, when it's nice out they open it and play, then when it's cold and rainy they close it and PLAY, I don't see why the red sox can't invest with all the sold out games in to a modern day stadium, why don't they?

Submarine,Sidearm,or Overhand Which way do you pitch?
fenway is nice for those sitting in 30% of only good seats.you have pole obstructions. the prices are the highest. the seats are small and unfriendly.
the red sox fan base comes from Ma,NH,ct RI and West Ma.
when the weather is bad . they have to come for miles
and park and wait . games called you are stuck for 50 +.
if you had a roof ,when you leave your house ,you know there is a game. isn't about the fan?
with today's technology sliding roofs are the future.i.e. Seattle.
for all save fenway. 50 years from now . do see you ever want a new a stadium?
Stadiums are taxpayer funded projects, even for highly-successful teams. Building a new stadium would cost anywhere from $100 million on up, and that's apparently more money than Boston is willing to spend. I don't think it's practical to just add a dome, either; something like that is very heavy, and the entire stadium has to be designed to support it.
Are you rooting for the Tigers this season?
They should just blow that rat trap up. In fact, they should do the same with the whole franchise. Any team that has only won one world series in 88 years has shown they can't be successful in MLB.They are successful in making money however. Their disillusioned fans pay good money year after year to see a losing team.
Why is davey lopes not coaching first base for phillies?
it never fails - throw away something of value in favor of something new and shiny.Dude, grow up, and buy a jacket. Will a little cold and rain make you melt?
Do you realize the history in that park? Who played on that field?
Come on already.. why not just knock down the Old North Church and put in a new Non-Denominational shiny church, or get rid of old ironsides and put in a dinner cruise boat?
Who needs The Commons, or Fennial Hall?
Why is it that the most respect "New" Baseball Park today still is Camden Yards? Why is it that Streets and Smith's SportsBusiness Journal ran a special feature on it? Why is everyone looking at why that park is so popular (hint - it is like the old parks, no dome, has character, etc).
Will Barry Bonds define the 500-800-3000-3000 club?
Obviously people like Serio13 know nothing about the history of the game, obviously you have never been to Fenway Park, and obviously you are not a loyal fan. Fenway Park has an atmosphere like no other park in the game today. you can look around the park and see where history has occured. It may be old but it is a lot more historic. Personally, I hope they never get rid of Fenway Park, that park means a lot to a lot of people. Fenway Park is more than a park to people like me who grew up going to games there and watching all the great players who have come through like Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Jim Rice, and so many more I watched growing up. It means a lot going there now with my father still, having a beer, and listening to the most passionatee fans in the game. The memories that so many people have at Fenway are a lot more important than some new dome stadium. The dome is a horrible idea, baseball is the game of summer, if it rains okay doubleheader, that is ho wthe game should be played, not in some wimpy dome.Who's pitching in tomorrows Dodgers D-Backs game?
Last person got it THE HISTORY if you've never been on the Monster you wouldn't understand. True the redsox nation is strong but you build a new stadium and move out of fenway see how many games you sell out. Also I've been in a dome to watch a game b4 an it's not the same as an out doors gameI'd rather deal with the cold weather and occasional rainout here and there than have a dome. I'm not from Boston, I'm from Philly, and we've been dealing with the same weather issues here. To me, baseball is better when played outdoors. I was at a game in Toronto where they had to close the roof the last couple innings, and it just didn't feel right.
When is Pedro Martinez expected to return?
Do it to other stadiums, but not Fenway park. That place has a rich history, many important events, world series etc,etc.99% of the Red Sox fans would be in an uproar if they took it down.If they cancel a few games so what? They make them up.You clearly do not understand the history and the great things that have happened there. What time must a baseball game on fox end for viewers to go to bonus coverage of another game?
OMG! Why would you want to tear down Fenway Park? I think that it's fine the way it is, so what if a few games get postponed because of rain...More Questions & Answers...
