What are "farm teams" and how are they used?
Question:They are used in baseball.
Answers:
Biggest rivalry your favorite team has?
It's the minor leagues. Every major league club has a AAA team, a AA team, and a couple of A teams. Major league clubs have exclusive rights to all players on their minor league rosters. (i.e. the Dodgers can't promote a minor leaguer from the Padres' system). There are some exceptions to this exclusivity. The Rule 5 draft allows teams an opportunity to dip into other teams' minor league rosters and promote players who've been stuck in the minors for a period of time. Possible scenario here would be a first baseman in the Cardinals' system. He isn't going to be promoted to the St. Louis club any time soon because of Albert Pujols, but another team might find use for him.
How do they decide who gets the Win and Loss in a MLB game?
"Farm teams" are the network of minor league teams affiliated with major league teams to develop prospects. Generally, teams have between five and eight minor league affiliates - 1 each at the AAA and the AA level, and then several A level teams. New signings typically go to one of the single A teams depending on their age and skill level. (college players go to the higher teams, high school and caribbean players go to the lower teams). As players get better, they are advanced to the next level, eventually and hopefully making it to the big league team.
Farm teams are generally not owned by the big league club, but their players and coaches are supplied by the parent MLB team.
Not all minor league teams are farm teams, there are still a few - very few - independent teams left and a few independent minor leagues that have nothing to do with major league baseball
Why do you hate the White Sox?
Minor league teams where players who have played in the majors and have not made it yet play so that major league teams can bring them up if needed or if they are better players and deserve to come up. Also players who have injuries and are ready to start playing again go there to play and then go back to the minors when ready. What is the best baseball game you have ever experienced first hand?
