Cleveland Spiders, and before that the Cleveland Forest Citys. They were named the Indians after Nap Lajoie left the team in 1915.It was in honor of Louis Sojoviec,a native American,(spelled it wrong I'm sure)who was a great Indians player before he was subdued by alcoholism. What can I name my softball team?

Will Giant 's fans and Barry Bonds butt kissers ever admit they are in denial?
There were three separate franchises in Cleveland in the 1800s:Cleveland Infants (Players League - 1890)
Cleveland Blues (National League 1879-1884)
Cleveland Spiders (National League 1887-1899)
The current franchise began as the Blues in 1901, changing their name to the Bronchos the very next season. They became the Naps in 1903, and kept that name until adopting the Indians nickname in 1915.
