When Barry Bonds breaks Aaron's career home run mark, Should an asterisk be by his name like Maris?

Question:The asterisk would have the chemical symbol for steroids by it.

Answers:

Do you think the next commissioner will ban Barry bonds for life and not allow to get in the hall of fame?

No, because that would be putting Bonds on the same level with Maris, something that Bonds does not deserve. At least what Maris did was legit.

What is the NY Yankee record for the highest batting average in a single season and who holds it?

He will be a pretender and his record meaningless.

Who holds the record for most home runs in a mlb game?

No. Even Roger Maris did not have an asterisk next to his name when Mark McGwire broke the record with 70.

Baseball has records set in all types of conditions, those records are what they are.

You could look at Barry Bonds and say "I think he did steroids so he does not deserve the record". You could look at Babe Ruth and say he did not compete against non-white players so he did not deserve the record. You could say that Hank Aaron did not play against the same number of international players so he does not deserve the record.

Throughout baseball history, playing conditions have changed. Ballparks have shrunk, grown, and shrunk again. Players travel more now, going coast-to-coast rather than no further west than St. Louis. Population growth has lead to more teams: rather than having to know 70 pitchers on the other 7 teams as was needed in the 8-team leagues prior to expansion, players now compete against all 30 teams. Baseball has gone from the Dead Ball Era to the live ball to the baseball that was changed during World War II as the cork was needed in the war effort.

Records are records. If Barry Bonds hit home run #756, he is the new lifetime home run champ.

I know what a double play is in baseball but what does it mean when they say it's a 6-3-4 double play ?

no. even if bonds did use steroids (which has not been proven, just speculated) it was not illegal at the time of use. it is just another era of baseball. just like the dead ball era, the steroid era greatly effected the statistics of certain players. if an asterisk is placed on bonds' record, then an asterisk would have to be placed on the greats such as Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb saying that their stats would have been better during another time period. steroids were part of the game during the time of bonds' successes and his accomplishments should not be diminished for it

I'm looking for batting gloves for my little brother who's right-handed. Do I buy two gloves or just one?

No there shouldn't be an asterisk, because Barry Bonds has gone out and performed to his highest potential and will barring injury own the Career Home Run Record. He has never been found guilty for any use of steroids and if people feel that his record should have an asterick so should Mark McGwire's record, but then you get in the dilema of at which point do you believe a player started taking steroids. I believe the only way punishment could be enforced (like an asterisk) is if a person is PROVEN to have cheated.
