Someones pissdI grew up in NJ and I'm a diehard Mets fan. Went to college in Massachusetts (BC) and within weeks, became so offended at how Bostonians and New Englanders for that matter, were so damn provincial in everything they do. The second they heard that anyone was from NY or NJ, they immediately equated it with being a Yankees fan. They are truly insane and their insanity is a direct biproduct of being so insecure that their city and their team has nothing on New York. I don't often defend the Yankees, but ONLY after living in New England, can a Mets fan realize that the true enemy is not the Yankees, but the Red Sox and the oft-drunk, ignorant accent sounding, pompous fans. How's that for a best answer?

As for the stupidity of the fans, I've had the misfortune of working often in New Jersey and being surrounded by Yankees and Mets fans, and guess what, they're no less pompous and rude...I get it all the time down there just for wearing my Sox cap...just like in Boston when New Yorkers are around...it's part of being a fan, and if you can't take it you either have really thin skin (i.e. you're a wimp) or you don't care about your team and baseball enough to be in this discussion...
