i will take wright all around. He is way better defensively. Little more pop and younger. But......if the game is on the line down one with two outs in the bottom of the nineth with bases loaded i will take chipper. I live in st. louis and i would trade rolen, izzy, and larusa, and 10000000 dollars and a case of budweiser for either one of those two.Do the marlins, tampa bay, pittsburg, kansa city, and milwauke deserve teams?
If you are asking about overall career I would have to say Chipper<which is hard for me because I am a mets fan> because you can only go on what has been accomplished so far. Now if you want to talk about potential I would have to say that Wright has the chance to be much better because he has better defense already and if he can keep having seasons consistently like he had last year he should surpass Chipper's offensive stats as well.What does it mean in baseball when a player is traded for future consideration.?
This is way to easy. Its gotta be David Wright, hes a young player, and he is showing extreme talent at the bat, and at the hot corner. I give alot or respect to Chipper Jones because he is also a great player, but i think he climbed out of his prime alreadyWhat should the Astros do with Brad Lidge?
At this point in their carrers you would have to take Wright. However, in his prime Chipper was a better hitter than Wright will ever be. The problem for Chipper is that he has been injury prone.What is going on with the Astros? 1-5 ?
If you don't want to go by "age", then call it experience. Chipper Jones is entering his 13th full major league season and probably the last leg of what could be a Hall of Fame career(hes 35). David Wright is a fine talent, but he hasn't played long enough to earn his stripes the way Chipper has. Its not fair to Wright to compare him with Chipper just yet. Lets see if he can continue his playing excellence for more than a decade the way Chipper has first. David just doesnt have enough games under his belt. Look at Juan Samuel for example. Guys can be great for several seasons, only to lose it when they should be entering their prime. Lets hope Wright isnt one of those, but thats my point: we cant really know that-or much else-this early in his career.Chipper is putting up better numbers than Wright right now. But wright put up better numbers than chipper last year. they're both good players but I think A-Rod's the better 3rd Baseman.
