Play Ball is right. Greinkie did just as well as Dice - K, and against a lineup with Papi, Manny, JD Drew and others. Dice - K did it against the Royals.Dice - K has pitched against the Orioles (got bombed), Marlins, Pirates, and some other bad team.
I'd like 2 see him against the Yanks, Angels, A's, ChiSox, Tigers, Mets, and other teams with good lineups.
He did pitch well, but not that well.

Great first outing for Dice K! Ten strikeouts and he pitched a full seven innings to help the Red Sox take their first series. Yes, there has been a lot of hype about him but he seems to be taking it all in stride. The main thing is, it is extremely early in the season and he needs to stay HEALTHY.Who throws faster? Rich Harden or Felix Hernandez?
10 strikeouts is amazing in a debut, and amazing overallgiven the circumstances i'd say he did pretty well. every fan of baseball in the states and japan was waiting to see how he did today. that's more pressure than most guys could ever imagine. throw in the fact that it was under 40 degrees (by no means is that good pitching weather) and 10 k's in your major league debut is impressive no matter who the opponent.
only time will tell if he is really all he is cracked up to be. once he faces a few of the tougher lineups in the league. as far as a debut i don't think you could ask for much better. if he had struck out 27 in a perfect game you'd still have people saying it doesn't matter since it was against the royals.

I think with that performance, Dice K may be the ace in waiting when Schilling retires...Schilling and Wakefield are both 40+...They do have Josh Beckett, who is very good, and who will probably inherit the top spot in the rotation when Schilling retires, but if Dice K keeps pitching like that, HE is the Red Sox ace in waiting...10 K's in his major league debut is impressive even if it is the Royals he was pitching against.Isn't Baseball great!!

Anytime u have 10k's and stats like that its a great game, but you cannot say hes going to be a great player considering he pitched against the royalsalright let me put this in perspective for some people ... Grienke before his social anxiety disorder was considered the ace of this staff, this was less than a year ago, and i still believe him to be a top end pitcher, granted he can keep his head straight through the season. Matsuzaka even though he is overhyped, overportrayed as the asian Cy Young, he is still a rookie in the MLB and came out in the first game of his career and put up 10 k's, won, and gave up what, like 1 run and scattered 6 hits, I'm happy when the ace of my team put's up those stats. He's gonna be good kid's. damn good
