Can someone explain Yankee fans to me, why do they hate A Rod so much?
Question:Yankee fans keep telling me he will start slumping anytime now, will drop popups and strike out, just like he has throughout his Yankee carrier. The AL MVP in 2003 and 2005 (the second as a Yankee) who had that horrible slump last year where he batted .290, hit 35 HR, drove in 121 runs and scored 113 while stealing 15 bases.
Come on, the man belts 12 long balls in 15 games while batting in 30 runs, effectively keeping the Yanks within range of the AL East lead while the rotation is decimated. Is he lauded as truly one of the greatest players in the game? Yes, but seemingly by everyone except Yankee fans. What is it he has to do to be respected? Please don't say win the World Series, that is a team acomplishment, this is not basketball where one player can carry a team, however good he is.
Or am I just talking to the wrong Yankee fans?

Who has the all-time longest O-fer streak in Major League Baseball?
You must not be talking to all the right Yankee fans.I know my brothers and I have had this discussion before. I am a die-hard Yankees fan. Grew up in the late 80s watching them suck and still talked about them to my friends.
When we got A-Rod I was thrilled! That guy is just flat out insane! He has the possibility to break so many hitting records it isn't funny.
Now, because of what he has shown that he is capable of, we DO expect more out of him. Just like in my teaching job, I expect more out of the students that can perform at a higher level. So it does get frustrating when he doesn't do as well as he should do, yet I don't go around booing or hating on A-Rod. We are lucky to have him on our team (and still have the Texas Rangers paying a portion of his salary; THANKS TEXAS!).
This April is just amazing to watch the way A-Rod has upped his game. Personally, I would love to see him continue on this pace, but realisticly there has to be a drop off sometime. Nature abhors a vacuum, and A-Rod has just been too good. That being said, is he going to suck? Not at all!
A-Rod will have another MVP year and get the Yankees through the World Series (providing we can get some stable starters in our rotation). This guy has put the team on his back and said, "I'll carry you until our pitchers are all healthy." He is just amazing. One of the best players we will see in our generation.
Help ME PLEASE!! anyone in softball???
I'm not a Yankee fan, but an A-rod fan.He really is amazing, belting 2 homers against my fave AL East team Bosox. And 12 HR plus 30 RBIs, he can probably win the MVP now. On the other hand, Pujols once hit 14 HRs in an April but didn't keep up the pace, so he came WAY short of 73 HR. Maybe that is the reason Yankee fans aren't amazed: peaking too early.
Who knows he might slump in August and hit just 4 HR and bat .250. Or maybe much like last season, a roller coaster season for A-rod. I predict he'll hit 60-70 HRs and a 150 RBIs
Well thats my opinion.
Go Mets. Go Mets. 2007 is our year.
they have no room to hate him this year. 12 homers, 30 rbis, .371 avg and a 100% fielding percentage. he could not play the rest of the season and i'd still say he was the season's mvp and i hate the yankees.
wrong fans with how well hes hitin' not all fans hate him
Because when we needed him in the clutch he never came through...in NY you need to prove yourself to be loved or even appreciated look how long Giambi was booed for. A-Rod will have to prove himself later in the year instead of choking and then he'll earn the respect he seems to be desperate for.
New york is the toughest baseball town. They tell you he's gonna goof soon because if it hppens, they wanna be able to say I told you so.
Yankee fans expect everyone to play like Jeter. The guys a class act, always says the right thing. Plays good 24/7, but he hasn't put himself at the center of the media, he takes it all instride.
Alex Rodriguez is expected to live up to his Contract! The guy is an outstanding player.
They will know how good they had it when they get some half talent guy to replace him when he bolts on them. Yankee fans dont diserve him.
Its because he's over priced and has not lived up to his ability, paycheck, and his past performance with other teams, in the past seasons with the Yankees. He is so talented, yet he has not lived up to his name. This season may be his turnaround because he is definately off to a start that anyone has to be impressed with. And it totally shows what he is actually capable of and how the past years were such a waste of his talent. I believe he COULD be the player people expect him to be, and so far this year, he is proving that.
Go Yankees!
Favorite Sports team in Baseball?
Where do you people get this stuff? A-Rod was never hated. He was booed for under achieving in clutch situations in a city that expects the best to play like the best. When you make $27 million a year fan expect you to perform like one.
What team played in the Polo Grounds ?
he is a show offEasy!! It is because Yankee fans are the rudest, most disloyal fans in all of sports rivaled only by those who root for other teams from New York like the Jets, Giants, Bills, Knicks, Islanders, and Rangers. Must be something in the water there!!
Chow!!
Who in baseball is the biggest joke to wear number 38?
The problem last year is that the hits were there but they were not timely hits. He was getting 'fat' off of blow out games, scoring runs that didn't matter. When he would come up in the clutch or post season,he couldn't deliver. As a Yankee, that's what matters most. He was something like 1-14 in the postseason. This year,he's doing what he's supposed to and more. The fans are loving him now. With a brand name player such as A-Rod,playing in a big market, the expecations are much higher. He's in the spotlight because of his past success and because of where he is. He's playing on the biggest sportsstage there could ever be. Jeter said it best when he was being booed.."They're waiting to cheer for you" Expectations are high and he is expected to earn his salary.More Questions & Answers...
