Which New York Yankees pitcher will be the first to throw a no-hitter or perfect game this season.?
You need to Load your weight towards your back foot. Make sure you don't over load, this will set you in a ready position. Keep your elbows down. when loading properly you will be able to step into a pitch with proper timing.Ground balls, weak ones, mainly a result of trying to pull an outside pitch. Swing inside out allowing more aggressive coverage of the plate.
basically you want to Load stride, and swing inside out. Keep your balance. leaning towards first base to get a jump will only take away from your swing.
Go to a batting cage, the balls always come at the same speed, so you get good practice with your timing
If the leafs and Islanders are tied with 91 points who will make the playoffs?
it really doesnt matter when you step. it sound wierd but it is true. the point of a stride is so youre weight can go on your back legs so when you follow through with your hips the ball will be hit harder. you could take a stride when the you see the ball about to comeout of the pitchers hand. thats what i do although im hitting alot of grounders too:( also do soft toss with a friend andhave him say "stride" then stride and have him throw the ball. remember you only need to stride an inch or less and your foot barely needs to come of the ground. goood luck! What is wrong with Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies?
Some people think too much and have a trigger step for their stride. When I was growing up people always did the Darryl Stawberry leg kick.Other players think of aswing as one fluid motion. They usually are the ones that "time" a pitch and start their swing and hope they connect. There are over thirty aspects of a swing that you can focus on.
For now, break your swing into four parts: stride, hands through the hitting zone, bat head through the hitting zone, and follow through.
Your stride should simply be a trasfer of weight. Maybe eight inches to a foot, tops. Step at the ball and go with the pitch. Concentrate on staying balanced and keeping your hands back as long as you can, Then explode on the ball. It is like hitting a forehand in tennis.
Look into the hitting styles taught by Charley Lau and Walt Hriniak. It is a bit of a contrast to the rotational hitting (Ted Williams) being taught today. It is good to know both styles so you can adapt to different pitches and pitchers.
