Why does everyone think Billy Beane of the Oakland Athletics is such a good GM?

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

It's because he puts a good team on the field even though he doesn't spend a lot of money. But, his teams have only won 1 playoff series on his watch. Money is no excuse, because the Marlins won the World Series with a payroll of slightly above $60 million bucks in 2003.and they slayed the Yankees no less.

Why did they make comiskey (the cell) in the ghetto?

cause he uses that money ball system they talk about every year and his teams are still competitive.

How much grass in on a softball field?

He doesn't need a 90+ million dollar pay roll to win games. He knows how to get the right mix of players at a cheap price to win. He is a mastermind at building a team. You don't need to buy all the talent to win, just put the right talent together to make a team that performs well as a team. A bunch of good individual players thrown together don't make a team, a bunch of individuals who play well as a team makes a team.

Yankees red sox game?

Because every year his team plays with heart, does the best to their abilities, and plays for the love of the game with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball and can field a team that can compete with the upper powers of baseball. Which as long as Beane is the GM the A's will always have heart and will always be exciting to watch. Where as the Yankees will never be that.

Is it true the MLB won't be accepting any new players?

Cause he finds a way to make the A's a competitive team despite losing a lot of their good players every year.

Most obnoxious fans in baseball?

It's all about scouting. Years and years of good scouting stacks the minor leagues and you can get guys playing at high quality at low entry salaries. The minor league system was so good he could afford to let certain guys go or trade them in their walk year to further stack the minor league system.

However the downfall with this system is a few bad or unlucky drafts and your whole strategy goes down the toilet for a couple years as they don't have the budget to supplement mulitple big free agents.

Baseball pitch speed??

Because he is the best talent evaluator and developer in all of Baseball. He does more with less than anyone else does with big$. Even though the A's haven't been successful in the playoffs, they've been there consistently. More than other teams with much bigger payrolls can say. Their fans are constantly enthralled and quietly the A's have become the epitome of what Baseball teams used to be about.

How do you feel about MLB allowing women to play alongside of the Men?

Just look at his teams record since he became G.M., he also is on a "small market" budget. The A's total payroll is consistently near the lowest in all of baseball, yet he still wins. Also look at all the free agents the A's have had to let go because they wont pay them enough; Tejada, Hudson, Mulder, McGwire, Dye, Foulke, the list is endless. Oh yeah , a guy named Giambi, also Reggie Jackson.

Who are these babeball players for Austin kearns, travis miller? are they for the reds?? in 2003?

Because he is a great GM, especially when it comes to starting pitchers. He gets rid of the Big 3 (Hudson, Mulder, Zito) and the staff doesn't miss a beat. Despite all the guys who leave there as free agents or in trades the team keeps on winning every year. Every middle market (yes middle market...come to KC if you want to see small) team would love to have this guy running the show. He finds hidden gems and makes shrewd trades to keep the team winning with a payroll that is always in the bottom half. He doesn't overpay, even if it means letting go of a Tejada, Zito, or Giambi without getting anything back for them. Anyone can win every year with a $200M payroll. It takes a great GM to win consistently with one more in the $60-70M range.

I need help w/ softball...?

two words farm system. dude is such a good talent finder. every year they are in the playoff hunt . they do play in a very weak division. but they are basically the majors farm system. he also puts together great coaching staffs. finds deals instead of trying to sign the big names. he got dan haren and kiko calero i believe for mark mulder. the bullpen is one of the best. and the players he finds are so good, like cust no one gave him a chance anywhere else he played but he is hitting the ball so good right now. i could go on and on but i will stop here. eaisly one of the top 2 gm's in baseball.
