Do you think ESPN has credibility has journalist?
Question:I don't think that the east coast espn has any.Look at steve phillips and peter gammons the only teams thay care about are the red sox, yankees, and mets. they don't know anything about other teams. just like steve phillips keeped saying last year that erig gange had tommy john surgery when he didn't, also he didn't know players name or what teams they were on.
Answers:
Although they're annoying, to say that they know nothing about sports is ignorant. That's just whining. They focus more on human interest crap and speculation by their experts because they think it will keep more people watching their channel, making their sponsors happy. Sadly, it works. Their goal is to make more money and they do a damn good job of it. They've created a monster. Blame the people for buying into it.
How much longer will Houston be patient with Brad Lidge ?
Is there such thing as West Coast ESPN?To answer your question, yeah I agree with you that Red Sox/Yankees/Mets get the most coverage...but I think because fans in those cities have the most die-hard baseball fans and ratings are the highest in Boston and NY. The only time ratings are high in a lot of other cities (LA for eg) is when the team(S) is going great which the Dodgers are. But honestly, it will be nice to reduce Yanks/Sox coverage a little bit and increase coverage of other teams.
As for credibility, I think ESPN just like other news stations do their best to give you credible news. If they are wrong, I am very sure they correct their mistake.
GENE below me is right. The ESPYs is a joke. It's just an event where athletes try to get laid with an actress and vice-versa.
ESPN has gotten the bighead and now believe that they are as big as or even bigger than the event they are covering. I lost all respect when they started the ESPY'S. How ridiculous is that? I am literally too embarrassed to watch.
Philip Hughes will start for the Yankees on Thursday.?
no kiddin they no nothin about no one. Will Cole Hamels win the NL Cy Young?
ESPN's corporate HQ are in Connecticut, which is the dividing line between Yankees and Red Sox territories. That explains their apparent pre-occupation with the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox.Steve Phillips isn't a journalist - he's a former Mets GM. But Gagne has had Tommy John surgery - twice.
But Peter Gammons? You don't think Peter Gammons is a journalist? The HOF begs to disagree with you on that one.
Has anyone done a multi-day, multi-stadium, major league baseball road trip?
I absolutely agree with the guy before me.I agree. ESPN is a joke. They are selling the typical white alpha male stereotype to both advertisers and the public. Interestingly, they are doing quite well in that. There is definitely bias in coverage. They skim coveraged Giambi's steroid issues so Yankees can maintain its healthy image. They do their best to enhance the white alpha male complex on most of their shows. It also include setting up hot women as field reporters that shows up ever so often on live coverages to show their "looks" more than reporting. ESPN also infiltrate clubhouses with them to get athletes attention and get them to talk.
