How to increase my pitching speed and number of pitches i can throw?

Question:I'm going to try out for pitcher this year in baseball, and i was wondering if there were any drills that could let me throw faster (i am an only child, so it would be great if there was a single person drill i could do but others are fine as well), i would also like to know how to throw a curveball, slider, and "gyroball" (if it even exists)

Answers:

Would you use the pink bat tommorow if you were a player?

to throw faster it is all about arm strength and mechanics.
to be able to throw more pitches, ALWAYS stretch before you throw and ice your arm after you throw (or rub icy hot on it)
as for the different pitches you want to learn how to throw. ask one of your teammates or your coach. or maybe visit a website about the grip, release point, etc.

the person before me is right. if your freinds or parents cant play catch with you. try and go buy one of thoses things where you throw it and the ball comes back to you theu sell them a dicks form any where from 80-300 dollers. if you work hard on it, it can really impove you speed and accuracy. And breaking pitches it all depend how your body is maturing, if you 11-14 dont rush.

How come the NL central has 6 teams as opposed to every other division that has 5 and the AL west that only 4?

to get speed on the ball u need to use your legs and arms at the same time but its mostly with your legs and the power they give you when u push off..how old are u , u might be to young to throw the curveball or slider....and the gyroball is just a slider w/ more movement , u should use a changeup and a 2 seam and maybe like a sinker to get movement

Here is the secret. Ready... You sure you wanna throw harder and stand out more than anyone? Well okay...

You need to throw. :) As much as possible
This creates arm strength and you muscles and tendons become stronger and flexible.

Speed doesn't come natural. Throwing a baseball is unnatural and dangerous on the arm. Thus you must help your body adapt to it.

Practice everyday with a friend. Throw 100 pitches one day, 50 the next, 25 the next then repeat.

Im only 18
when i was 15 I through 78 mph, 16 I threw 82...So my junior yr I threw everyday and my fastball got up to 86. Im now graduated and throwin 93 mph. So throwing is the best way
No weighted balls because it ruins timing and may be hard on the elbow

hope you make it pro :)

What names will come out of the mets steroid raids of former trainer?

throwing harder is all practice... long toss every day, start lifting weights, and having good mechanics. when you break your hands in your motion, try to get your front arm up high and then pull it down when you throw. also, when you push off the mound you dont push towards the plate. well, you do, but you push at more of a diagonal up and out. combining these two things means that you are using your whole body and your bigger muscles to throw the ball and not just your arm so you will have increased speed, increased stamina, and less of a chance for hurting you arm. i'm a 15 year old and i'm throwing 87-88 mph.

now about the pitches. at any age, youth or major leagues, you only need 2 or 3 pitches (2 is fine at this age, your fastball and another). now i'm just gonna say this, DON'T THROW A CURVEBALL, SLIDER OR GYRO!!!!
1) when you say your only a child your arm is probably not developed enough to throw a curveball or any other pitch like it
2) once the pitcher throws the ball, the batter knows its a curveball because of the spin.

so. throw a change-up.
1) makes your fastball look even faster
2) you won't hurt yourself
3) a batter can't pick up that its a change-up before it's too late when they have already swung or transfered all their weight so they won't have a powerful swing.
4) it's easy to throw. just put another finger on the ball than your fastball grip, slide the ball a little further back in your hand, and throw just as hard as your fastball. your grip will change the speed enough.
