I'll tell you what I told the last guy...Joe Jackson hit over .400 for that series and his absence from the Hall of Fame is the single greatest travesty in all of sports, much greater than the highly publicized Pete Rose absence.I think it was a sad thn to happen in baseball. Jackson should not have been thrown out of baseball. And Buck Weaver also got a raw deal. The players were getting screwed by the owner Charlie Comonski, and they needed the $$. The players were in the wrong, but i think Landis scred up. It was a time when owners had free will to do whatever they wanted, and Landis could have prevented it. Instead Landis just wanted to get his name in the paper.All in all a sad story. awesome question

What happened shows how cheap the owners were in those days and how they treated the players. If the Chicago owner had been honorable with the players in their contracts they would not have thrown the series. Shoeless Joe went to the owner with the money and information and they (owners) told him to keep it and just play. He was clearly the best player in the series, made no errors, hit the series only homer, and hit as usual. The fact he was uneducated worked against him when he was interviewed. They had him mark his X to papers without having someone independent read to him what was in them. When he tried to say something in court about that he was told to shut up. Babe Ruth was once asked who he copied his swing after, "Greatest hitter in the game Shoeless Joe!"Dream pitching rotation of now day players ?
shoeless joe jackson played his best and STILL took the fall for the 1919 scandal along with the other 7 guys. Being thrown out of baseball for life, when he arguably played GREAT is something I just don't understand. For heaven's sakes, he hit a homerun in one of the games that he supposedly threw.his last words before he died? "I'm about to face the greatest umpire of all and He knows I am innocent."
at least pete rose won't be in the hall of fame. if shoeless joe isn't in there, that snake shouldn't be in there either.
