I believe he did...When he came into the league in the late 80's/early 90's he was a beanpole. He probably weighed 160. Fast forward to the middle 90's and Sammy looked more like a body builder.
Much like Bonds, and at around the same time, Sammy's power numbers jumped to the sky, and the rest of his game (defense, baserunning, etc) went straight to hell.
And his head did grow...look at his rookie and early cards vs. later in life.

Sammy is a bit harder to say, he has always had a bit of a larger frame, so the muscle build could just be self achieved. The fact that he was caught corking the bat doesn't give him much credit though, showing that he has already been caught cheating. Right now the MLB is looking up drug testing records for Sosa as well as many other players so I guess we will probably find out. I think he has because there is no way you go from one of the best power hitters in the game to a nobody. Right now he is on the way back up because he is finally figuring out what it takes to be a clean baseball player.What was the longest at bat ever?
I honestly think he has. When he was coming up originally with the Rangers organization, he was projected to have 25-30 HR power at best, and be able to swipe 30 bags a season. For him to bulk up the way he did just before the '98 showdown w/ Big Mac raised my eyebrows, at least.That, coupled with the fact that he pretended he couldn't speak English when he testified before Congress nailed the coffin in my book.

No. There's no evidence. When he was first scouted he was put on an exercise and nutrition plan by the Rangers' trainers and Rudy Jaramillo. He's stuck with it ever since. He was hitting his prime in '98. Average out his statistics over the years and he's been fairly consistent. Yeah, he's had great years and bad years but they all average out.He had that corked bat incident. It was a mistake, he apologized and served his suspension. Case closed.

I grew up a Sosa fan and watched him hit a few of his home runs on the way to 66, however watching his muscles get much bigger in 2 years was kinda odd considering he was very small when picked up by the Rangers and then the White Six he was basically a speed guy then turned into a monster home run hitter. Also it doesn't help when you go in front of congress and pretend you can't speak English and then the following year not show up at all and not hit any homers and lose your power!
