Why do most baseball fans ignore the Oakland A's?
Question:Year after year the A's prove sports writers and fans wrong by winning. Since 2000, they have made the playoffs 5 times and have the second best record in all of baseball (behind the Yanks) with an average payroll of just $47 million (compared to $153 mil for the yanks) all while losing players such as Giambi, Tejada, Isringhousen, Damon, Foulk, Mulder, Hudson and now Zito and replacing them with rookies and cast-offs. I know their team isn't the best on paper, and they've choked in the playoffs but don't they deserve some credit for winning despite no money and little support?

How long will A-Rod stay hot and do well in the clutch?
Whos not giving them credit? All I hear about is how revolutionary Billy Beane's MoneyBall approach is. They get the credit they deserve...as a consistent playoff team.that is the ? isn't it . i grew up in Oakland and a big A's fan they were also ignored in 1972,1973,1974. but one thing, look at other teams to see were they get players. oak. oak. oak.

Hey yankees fans, do anyone know the name of alex rodriguez's home run song?
Who are the Oakland A's?thats a pretty good question. i live in san francisco and im always amazed to see how the As always pull out 90 win seasons effortlessly while always losing their best players and with a small payroll while playing in the AL. i guess its because they dont have the big name guys or guys who are really good or the best at their position.
the NY teams always get talked about because theyre in NY
Chicago teams get talked about because of their big media
SF gets talked about because of bonds
boston gets talked about because of dice-k
seattle is getting talks because of king felix
etc etc etc.
A's dont get enough respect and should be talked about more often, this is coming from a giants fan.
They should change A-rods name to A-roids,what do you think?
The Giants own the fan base in the Bay Area. This is proven by the attendees per game. The A's are pushing season tickets for their new stadium, which is not even finalized yet. The South Bay maybe a better market for them, but I wouldn't pay for full season tickets for 5 years to get a priority seat in the new ballpark. I can go to any game, at anytime and get a seat. You can't do that with the Giants.
I don't.. I'm constantly reminded of them when I go to McAfee Coliseum or AT&T Park when I watch the Bay Bridge Series. Nothing but Raider fans in disguise cussing out Giants fans, especially the pre-teens and teenagers. Have some class, please!!!
Actually even though I'm a Giants fan, I love the A's because of their history, excellent farm system (probably the best in baseball) and are World Champions many times over.
The SF Bay Area is blessed to have both AL and NL baseball teams within 7 miles of each other.
Whats wrong with Miguel Tejada? Why isn't he producing like he like he usually does?
Theres one reason that the A's aren't getting a lot of attention. The reason is the fact that everytime they win they get eliminated from the playoffs quickly. I like the A's, I'm a Giants fan. They're my favorite AL team. But what they really need to do to get more attention is do something unbelievable. Like have Dan Harden or someone like that pitch a no hitter or a perfect game. Or get to the world series.
Do you have any MLB players that went to your school or lived in your town? If so, who?
bcuz their 2 bz pay'n attention 2 the cardsHow can I convince my son to not be afraid of the baseball?
Well the biggest problem is that Oakland will always be the step child to the big city in the Bay Area: San Francisco. Not to mention that the Giants have one of the biggest media hypes: Barry Bonds. This translates, unfortunately, to the team as well. Then you throw in the East Coast bias where many people on the East Coast (and their media) are usually asleep when west coast team plays their home games. So they never see the A's. Plus, if you were to ask people on the other side of the country to name two cities in California, it would be San Francisco and Los Angeles. So the media, people and all that are all barriers. Don't forget that Oakland is a small market team. That's another disadvantage.I love the A's. In fact, growing up, I went to more A's games than Giants game because I'm from the East Bay and it was much easier to take BART to the Oakland Colosseum than go all the way to San Francisco. Plus I believe Billy Beane is the smartest GM in baseball. I don't know how he's able to keep reloading the team with talent even when stars keep leaving. And he does this without breaking the bank.
When the A's move to Fremont in a few years, maybe things will change since fans from San Jose will become fans as well. Time will tell.
What are the best ways of obtaining autographs at a Red Sox game?
The reasons are that1. They play in Oakland (overshadowed by SF)
2. They're a small market team
3. EVERYTIME THEY HAVE A GREAT PLAYER THEY LOSE THEM TO A TEAM WITH MONEY
