Make a case for Joe Nathan NOT being the best reliever in baseball.?

Question:

Answers:

Is it just me, or is Curt Schilling the biggest douche in baseball?

Trevor Hoffman, nearly 40 years old, the all-time career saves leader sitting at 485 career saves. He is the all-time career save percentage leader at an impressive 89.6% and still going like the energizer bunny. His current year to date (2007), he has gone 6 IP with a record of 1-0 with 3 saves, 6 Ks and an ERA of 0.00. Joe Nathan, although you can argue hes been the best reliever in this decade, is only 32 years old and it has yet to be determined whether he will be capable of pitching as well as hoffman has as he ages. The great Mariano Rivera is 37 years old and seems to be on his decline which speaks volumes with the success the older Hoffman has remained consistent at. Mariano Rivera's statistics early in this current season are as follows: in 5.1 IP, a record of 1-2 with an ERA of 8.44, 0 saves and 5 Ks..and Joe Nathan? he currently has 5 saves, 2 more than the aforementioned hoffman on the year, but in 7 IP he a record of 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA and 4 Ks, not as efficient as hoffmans great start.

First proffessional baseball game?

I really like Joe Nathan, but I have to admit, Papelbon is preetty intense.

So is Bobby Jenks and Joel Zumaya... can't forget about K-Rod as well.

But being a Twins fan, Nathan is awsome.

What is wrong with the orioles pitching?

Sorry, but I can't. He is the best currently and even right now he may be struggling, but he is still 6 for 6 in saves this year after striking out the side (all looking) today.

He is the best right now, but Mariano has had the best overall career so far because he has been doing what Joe is for a lot longer.

In baseball, how did the term "bull pen" originate?

I'm not at all a Yankees fan, but Rivera has quite a postseason resume.

Who is the best baseball player ever?

Although his last few appearances have been shaky, i think he is one of the best. K rod (angels) is over rated. I have seen him blow so many games. Rivera has had a great career no doubt, but hasnt been too brilliant as of late. Papelbon (sp?) will be amazing with some time. So i think it would be fair to say he is the best at least the AL right now.

Who has the best swing in baseball today?

Joe Nathan doesn't scare people and is not as automatic as you amy think he is. While it is clear Rivera is heading on the downward clope of his career, he still has some itimidation factor, as does Billy Wagner, and one guy I never like seeing in the ninth inning who rarely gets there, Chad Cordero of Washington
