the black sox scandal took place because three gangsters offered the white sox eddie cicotte to lose the world series on purpose. The the gangsters would pay them more money than their salary. I believe the head gangsters name was arthur. When the first baseman chick gandil told outfielder shoeless joe jackson of the scandal joe refused the money and told charles comiskey the manager. Unfortunately comiskey did nothing and everyone o the team was banne dfrom baseball. After the scandal mlb hired a comissioner to stop such things from happening.

All I know is that Joe Jackson hit over .400 for that series and his absence from the Baseball Hall of Fame goes at the top of the list of all time sports screw-jobs. It's a much greated travesty than the one we always hear about, Pete Rose, who actually did do what he was accused of.

I think Joe Jackson deserved to be banned for life! He got hits whenever he felt like it in that series. Whenever the situation meant anything in that series he got out. Ed Rousch of the Cincinnati Reds went to the grave believing they were the better team and would have won anyway!
