In baseball, is there a balk that sends the BATTER to first base?
Question:During a little league game, my son was awarded 1st base without a pitch being thrown. We were wondering what happened and later learned that they just "balked him." I thought balks only advance runners on base and have not yet found a definition of a balk that advances the hitter to 1st base.

Will anyone get 800 homeruns by the end of there carrer?
There is no such thing, as the definition of a balk is any movement designed to deceive the baserunners. A balk committed without anybody on base is a "no pitch", and in most cases a ball is awarded to the batter. It is possible that he balked and the ball was the fourth one.Do all baseball bats have to be the same size/weight?
It's a touchy rule in little league. Not a lot of the umps know what they're talking about, so they make them up as they go. Just don't be one of those parents who yell at the umpire and embarass their child. :-)Is there really a better Starting Rotation than Zito, Cain, Lowry, Morris and Russ Ortiz?
yea u canPitchers duel vs. total blowout?
Based on only what you've said, there's no such rule in PROFESSIONAL baseball. But you haven't given a complete description of the situation, so rule 7.07 my have applied. Or it may be that there's a different rule in LLB.
no. why would you throw to a base or double set with no one on.
How do you pronounce Gil Meche's $11M name?
No balk here but don't be upset w/the umpire for his lack of knowledge. You're talking about Little League and no one should expect perfection. Remember, LL is a volunteer organization and a great place for people to learn the various aspects of the game. Will the Indians surprise people and win the AL Central?
The batter is never awarded first on a balk under any set of rules.Sounds like a rule was misinterpreted ( in little league imagine that!).
If the batter has three balls in his count with runners on and the pitcher commits a balk AND delivers the pitch which is out of the strike zone. it is considered ball four if all runners advance one base. If not the balk penalty is enforced.
Sounds like the umpire goofed once again.
