Why do fans interfere?
A fair ground ball is hit along the third base line. Seems like these idiots always feel the need to reach for it even though they are told numerous times before the game not to touch a ball in fair play. Why can't they just let the ball go?

Because they are usually not paying attention to whether the ball is fair or foul. They just see the ball coming and reach for it. Maybe it has something to do with knowing they will be on TV as well.Anyone who does this, deserves to be tossed, or at least have a beer dumped on their head!

Specifically, they're idiots who can't be bothered watching the umpire signal fair or foul.I once had a series of tickets for the first row, about halfway down the LF line. The one time that I was there and a ground ball down the line was fair and then, once past the bag, rolled into foul territory and down the line, I actually leaned forward a bit and threw my arms out in from of the people in the seats around me, to try to keep them from reaching over for the ball. Unfortunately, no one's wingspan is 300'.

Because there isn't a gap in between the playing field and the stands ..If they didn't want fans grabbing at the ball they shouldn't put them where they can reach into the field of play..
