Question:I hear so many Yankee fans whining about their injuries. How about Oakland?

Bradley, Duchscherer, Kielty, Street, Loaiza, Piazza, Kotsay and Harden.

That's a combined .276 batting average and a 3.84 ERA

i KNOW we have about 11 key players on the damn DL!! But b/c of these injuries we are able to give opportunities to some prospects. For example if Piazza had never got injured then we would of never had got our hands on JACK CUST!! I just wonder what Geren is going to do with the Outfielders once Kotsay comes back b/c we have T.BUCK, STEWART, & SWISHER! & then when Bradley comes back. Right we need our relievers b/c none of the ones we have left are not doing it for us! We need Street back and Duchscherer.

Every team has injury issues. It's part of the game. The Yankees are just a higher profile team than the A's so it gets plastered all over the sports pages. The A's have had more than their share of injuries this season but they are far from the only ones. They haven't had the same caliber of players go down but Kansas City has had more players on the DL than any other team in the league. Taking decent players off a bad team like that is worse than taking them from a team like Oakland. A lot of guys counted on to contribute for the Royals are the same type of guys Oakland is using to replace the injured players. Its all in how you want to look at it.

The Yankees are higher-profile, and have lost almost all their starting pitching at one time or another (plus their pitching wasn't great to begin with). The A's losses have been spread across starters, relievers, and batters, so it's less impact in one area.

Just remember - particularly as a fan of Billy Beane's club - that the numbers tend to even themselves out. So if Oakland takes a beating now, they should be better off later in the season when it matters.
