What would you rather see at a major league baseball game?

It's pretty hard to tell someone how to grip a baseball without being able to show you.

A changeup is the easiest. Basically, you're just going to put more of your hand on the ball. Some guys use 3 fingers, some use the whole hand, some push the ball back further into their hand. It depends on how you feel comfortable.

When you throw the changeup, you don't snap your wrist like with a fastball, you just let it roll out off your fingers. That takes some more of the speed off of it. You go through you rmotion exactly the same, and try to keep your armspeed the same as with your fastball.

As for a curve and slider...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/slider...

These both give some details on throwing the pitch, and the curveball link has a picture of a grip for it too. The slider grip is similar, but you get the ball out more onto your fingertips.

Its important that when you throw these pitches, you don't twist your wrist to put spin on the ball. It all comes from the grip and your fingertips. If you twist your wrist or arm, you open yourself up for some nasty injuries, and general ineffectiveness and control problems.

If you can't throw these pitches for strikes, or to LOOK like strikes, they won't help you.

Also, if you're under say... 16 years old, start working on a curveball... use it as your out pitch in 0-2 and 1-2 counts, but don't worry too much about mixing up your arsenal. You need to throw your fastball at the earlier ages. It's going to build your armstrength and make you better.

Also, longtossing from 100+ feet is a great way to build armstrength, which is going to make everything you throw better. Players these days don't do enough of that.

What are the odds of Barry Bonds suffering an "accident" that will prevent him from breaking baseball's...?

when I started pitching I picked up a copy of "The Art of Pitching" by a former Mets pitcher (I am blanking on the name right now).

This was a great book and still is, it walks you through the different pitches and it explains how everyone is different and one grip doesnt work for everyone

It tells you how to find which grips are right for you.

I wish I had found this book sooner than I did as it showed me what I was doing wrong and I just wish I had more of a chance to take advantage of it.

Hope this helps, but make sure your bones have completely matured (talk to a doctor) because if you start throwing them too early in your career and too often you could risk permanent damage.

The typical age for maturation of bones in the arms is 14 to 16 for boys.

Hope this helps

What baseball team do you cheer for?

I have found that in the hand works best.
