Which is the more successful baseball franchise, the oakland athletics, or the sf giants, and why?
Answers:
How will Yankee fans react if ARod breaks HR record, & the team misses the playoffs?
The Oakland A's are easily the more successful franchise. Since the Giants moved from NY to San Francisco, they haven't done jack. All the Giants have is Barroid and a couple WS appearances, but nothing else. The A's are a serious contender every year with one of the lowest pay rolls in baseball. The A's because they have won rings since moving to Oakland
SF is more loved in the Bay.
How does one go about becoming a play by play announcer?
No doubt the A's.One of my friends who is a huge Giants fan that lives in the Bay Area said it best, "Why root for a bunch of exicting, young, crisp players? When I can root for a bunch of old, decaying, overrated, overpayed ones?"
Explain to me if you will? Clemens and Dice-K issue?
The Giants. They have more of a fan base than the A's despite the A's championships. I was a huge fan back in the early-70's win the A's won 3 straight WS. I walked 5 miles to games! At the time, they had one of the greatest teams in history, but only averaged 9,000 fans per game. Charlie Finley almost wanted to move them out of the Bay Area because of a lack of fan support. I could sneak in free at times--just walk through an unmanned gate. I also visited Candlestick when Mays and McCovey played. They had, by far, better attendance. Finley had to resort to using orange baseballs, Charlie O, the mule mascot, white shoes, and moustaches to attract crowds. The Giants still outdrew them. In recent history, it's been the same. Bonds' HR chase has kept them alive in the gates. They have a much attractive stadium now, and for the most part, still draw the crowds. Why are the red sox wearing green today??
In terms of PERFORMANCE, most definitely the A's. They always compete, great pitching, timely hitting, and always make the playoffs. In terms of monetary success, definitely the Giants. Mostly because of You-Know-Who...
Who has the choppiest and ugliest swing in baseball?
The A's. They don't have a big payroll and year after year they're a contender.Oakland a;s because they have won nine world series championships more than the giants have ever won.
Which pitcher had the most strike outs in world series play?
if you go all the way back for the 2 franchises...Oakland A's were the Philadelphia A's...SF Giants we're the New York Giants. I'd have to say the A's, even though the New York Giants were better than the Philadelphia A's, since moving west the A's are far superiorSanFran -- people actually go to their games
2006 attendance: SF 7th @ 3.13m vs Oak 26th 1.97m

OUTFIELD HELP! i need arm strength. please help!?
Oakland for sure. Any franchise who would put up with and make excuses for Barry Bonds cannot be a class act. Oakland is and the Giants are not. It's just that simple!!Chow!!
Are the San Francisco Giants now a legitimate threat to win the NL West after sweeping the Dodgers?
Obvious answer, THE A's b/c the Giants SUCK, when was the last time the Giants won in the NL West? we won it last year, and has SF ever won a WS at all? I know the A's have and the A's have more wins than the Giants of course!! GO A's!!!!How many times has Ken Griffey Jr been on the DL?
I think that the success is reaped by both sides of the bay. The Athletics have tons of World Championship rings where the Giants have one. The Athletics has great pitching, a good farm system, as well as excellent sluggers in the past. The Giants have a potential record breaker, playoff experience and a history of Hall of Fame players. The fans are the winners because no metropolitan area other than NY has two teams in close proximity to each other. The SF Bay Area has three baseball teams (Oakland/Fremont, San Francisco and Single A San Jose), Cal and Stanford NCAA sports, an NBA championship winning basketball team, World championship winning professional arena football, two Super Bowl winning NFL teams, a playoff experienced hockey team and professional lacrosse.
