Pitching questiong, when a pitcher is driving his arm does he keep it as loose as possible or does he flex?

every summer my softball does this.the coaches divide us up into two teams and everyone has a sofball. They put our teams on opposite base lines and we play the game. It is kinda like 'Red Rover'. Since every one has a softball they roll them on the ground and they cannot let them pass. And if they do they have to depart to the other team. The team with the most ppl wins...

We also do somthing where you start at base and you have a partner. This drill works on catching under pressure. What you do is your partner takes one giant step towards first and you take one giant step to third and you throw it to them. if they catch it they both move another space towards the designated space creating distance between them. As catching continues you keep advancing forwards. The team that gets there the fastest with no drops should win a prize..but yeah. If a team drops it you have to start over...but fast!

Also try a tennis ball. Throw them hard against the wall and just play catch. This increases speed and awarness to the ball.

hope they help.

Will Steve Garvey ever make the HOF?

there are lots of things you could do. practice leadoffs, long throws. and for feilding make 4 lines...one for pop flies, one for line drives one for ground and one for a flip thingy...have one person go and run across the gym back and forth. its confusing..

I need some tips on hitting.. where can I find hitting tips for baseball online?

1)Set up some rubber bases inside (or somehow mark all of them) & work on high pops & grounders.

2)Work on throw downs & getting the kids to know where to go for them. A good throw down could save you the game!

3)Sprints! they build up speed & agility

4)sliding practice. Set up something to resemble the based, & have them all bring in beach towles. Set them about 6 ft. from the "base" and teach them to slide. Its a lot safer learning it iside than outside with raised bases. Anyway, they'll start their slide on the towel & should end up on the "base". If they don't make it to the base, they started too early. if they over shoot the base, they started too late.

GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON! :-)

How will barry zito do as a giant?

Roll the ball and have them shuffle back and forth going after the ball like an infielder. Soft toss off the cage.

Tonights game?

scrimmage

Dose a homerun count if the player dies before they make it to the home base?

I'm on my school softball team and we also haven't been able to practice outside, so 1 of the things we do is a game that works on fielding, throwing, communication, running, and backing each other up. What you do is:

Seperate kids into teams of three or four

Have them at one end of the gym

The point is try and not let the ball hit the wall behind the basketball hoop

They can stand however they want, but they can't let the ball hit the wall

You stand at the other end of the gym and hit it to them

If it hits the wall or they make a bad throw they get a point, if they stop it and make a good throw they don't

Hit it to them 10 times then switch teams and the team with the lowest amount wins

Other teams have to run 5 laps around the gym for losing

HOPE THIS HELPS!!

How do you prepare for a basebal as a player the day before besides drinkin alot of water and eating good food

when we had to practice inside we would set up basically the same stations for hitting that we did outside except we never used real balls or the dimple balls for the pitching machine. We used whiffle balls and balls called...Life-lights i think, not sure but they're the size of a softball and are lighter there like hard foam. But we would do soft toss into a net, work on placing bunts, and we would use a thin wooden rod to hit little balls.

For fielding we just threw and worked on infield diving by having balls rolled at a distance far enough away to dive for...the girls may get road rash type scrapes but learning the technique helps in games. I wouldnt recomend working on base sliding because even in just socks there is a chance that someone will slip running and slam a knee or ankle into the gym floor...we had a girl out for the last season because of this. But if you need something to do its an okay drill.

You could also set up different work outs to do. Like a station for wall sits, a station for push ups, and any other equipment for working out you may have. You can also work on running and have them sprint from one end of the gym to another 6 times then 5 then 4 then 3 then 2 then 1 its long and hard but it'll help
