Answers:
Why does Yahoo continually screw up the baseball score and schedule postin??
Cause they can't spell in Boston, so the use Sox. idk the real reason, but i bet that had something 2 do with it.Is interleague play good for baseball?
To be honest, I have no idea. But I do know that when baseball was really starting to catch on (i.e. late 1800's to early 1900's) the team for Boston was originally called the Boston Red Stockings...So maybe Sox came from the original names of the teams.Hope I helped!
They weren't very creative in their naming back in the day. The teams wore red stockings, so that's what they got called, it was an identifiable part of their uniform. Sox is just a funner spelling of Socks, which is the short version of stockings.
And you wanna talk about weird Sox? My town's semi-pro team is called the Apple Sox. Our town is famous for its apples. WE all that that was a stupid name, but it stuck.
(And Black Sox isn't actually a team, it was the scandalous White Sox of 1919 that got accused of taking money to throw the world series. )
we cant spell..yeah right.its because of the socks/stockings whatever they called them 100 years ago...maybe we just like to keep it simple so we can focus on winning games and not on what our name is! Go Bosox! woo! hoo!
