Why use gloves to run bases?

The batting gloves usually come off after reaching base. Some players will give them to the 1B coach, some will stick them in a pocket, and some will hold them. Holding them will keep fists closed reducing the chance of a broken finger sliding into a base.

What tickles me are the little guys, even T-ball age who don't ever wear the gloves, just like to have them sticking out of their back pocket!

Catcher, Javy Lopez?

You know, I think I've seen some players switch. I don't think it offers and advantage, but I could see a guy not wanting to have to constantly be picking dirt out of his batting gloves from sliding. I always just stuffed mine in my back pocket or gave it to the first base coach.

Who will win the World Series?

Yes they do. They switch gloves once they get on base.

What is the closest minor league baseball team located near Rochester, Mn?

Yes, they do have different gloves. There are sliding gloves with a stronger support for your wrists.
