Why does espn always show the yankees?
Question:I don't know if they are aware but people outside of NY could care less about the yankees. Thats why baseball is not as popular as other sports, because its only revolves around 2 teams, yankees and red sox. Maybe if you show/discuss other teams, you would get more fans of those teams. But people have no choice but be interested in the redsox/yankees rivalry because that is all they show.
I'm glad the nfl, nba is more spread out. Because its ridiculous how they only think 2 teams exist in the mlb.

ESPN does a lot of televising outside the States, and guess what everyone outside the States want to see. So, I suppose if they have already purchased the rights to these games they want to play them as much as possible. Yes, if they could show other teams and other rivalries they could bring in their fans as well, but ESPN chooses to concentrate on THE rivalry because of the overseas market.
Plus there are many non baseball fans within the States who watch the occasional game. No prizes for guessing who they are going to watch.

they do this because most of them are yankee or boston fans. evern notice how they always talk about North carolina or duke only during baseketball season? its because most of them went to those schoolsi stopped watching espn YEARS AGO. because of the biased it displays.
it loves to accuse bonds of being juiced (in all reality because he's turned down their requests to do commericals FOR FREE for them) but they love to hype up LANCE DOPESTRONG..all because he did do commercials for them..and that speaks for itself.

The Yankees and Red Sox have fan bases througout the country unlike most other teams. I live in California and have been to many Angels home games. There is no comparison to the number of Yankee or Red Sox fans that come out to see those games than any other team that I have seen play at Angel Stadium (except the Dodgers). The same analysis applies to Dodger Stadium and whatever they call the A's Coliseum nowadays. Red Sox and Yankees and especially Red Sox vs. Yankees draw ratings so those two will get a lot of play. By the way, FOX is just as likely to fall into this hole, too.P.S. If you do not mind the extra cost and you have broadband, you can get a TV package from mlb.com and watch whatever game you want on your computer. It's not free, but you would have more control over your choice of game.

First off, ur blowing it wayyyy out of proportion, besides these last two games, i can't recall watching the Yanks on espn this year, except for the other Yanks-Sox series. It's not known as the most heated rivalry in sports for no reason, even if u don't like it, that's just how it is. Because they have more fans than any other team. ESPN wants to get the maximum number of eyeballs on each game, so they put on the team that's won 20-some World Series titles. I bet if ESPN did a poll for all 50 states (except New York), asking who their favorite baseball team was, the Yankees would come out first. They have widespread appeal, and they also are widely hated because of their dominance. Because.. the Cubs and Braves have their own networks where the average fan can watch them and New York is one of the biggest markets... and either you hate the Yankees and love to see them lose.. or you love the Yankees and love to see them win... there are no casual fans of the Yankees. It is just like Notre Dame football.. you either hate them or love them.ESPN shows those games because it gets the highest ratings. Those are both big market teams with a large fan base even outside or new york and boston. Both those teams are loaded with superstar players as well, they also have two of the biggest payrolls in MLB.
