Dice-K doesn't throw a gyroball. His delivery is over the top which makes it nearly impossible for him to deliver the pitch correctly.

A gyroball is ball with slider spin that goes straight. Players have called this pitch a back-up slider in the past because it was a pitch that wasn't intended to move like that. A guy figured out how to throw it consistently and it has become a pitch that is used in Japan by people who throw sidearm or submarine and have a good slider and need a changeup to throw the hitter off.
