Is anyone buying Curt Schilling's apology?
Question:or do we still think he is a nasty person?
Answers:
While Schilling has had a great career with 3000Ks and 200 Wins, he was never the most dominate pitcher in baseball at any point in his career. He's had a long and steady career but he never really dominated any given year like Clemens, Martinez, Johnson, Santana or even Zito, Gooden, Saberhagen, Hentgen, Smoltz, Halladay, Webb...etc.
Curt Schilling never on a Cy Young award in his 20 years in MLB. If he were really that good of a pitcher he thinks he is, why hasnt he even won one Cy Young? He spent a vast part of his early career in National League and put up above average numbers, but not spectacular. There are always pitchers better than him in any given year. He was never the best. We can see that from his adjusted ERA+ numbers. It shows that while he had good looking stats, they were considered only average to above average among league competition. Thus, his numbers can be very misleading to amateurs.
As far as Curt as a person, I have lost my respect for him after this incident. I hope he can regain my respect in the future because I dont want to believe he is a nasty person.
When was the last time the yankees didn't make the playoffs?
i hate the sob.Is roberto alomar hall of fame material?
schillings the man of course hes honestWhat does "prorated" in sports contracts mean?
No, I am not buying it, because he didn't mean it. He only apologized to save face, along with his reputation. It's too late for that, as by now everyone is aware that Schilling is an insufferable windbag and a hypocrite. He likes to talk lot, but when he is under the gun, like at the congressional hearings, he either changes his story or says he was taken out of context.I used to think of Curt Schilling as a great pitcher, which he is, but his big mouth and ever-increasing ego take away from his talent.
Will the braves rebound and win the division this year?
He said what was on his mind at the time. What is insulting to me is the fact that he apologized. He said what he said and should stand by it. I guess it's a PR move for him to make the apology. My friend, Satan, joined our softball team. What posistion should he play?
I still think he's a nasty person. His comments were uncalled for and extremly unprofessional. He should keep his thoughts about other players to himself because if he doesnt then they will leak out some how. Of course he isnt sincere with him apology. His people told him to say it to avoid more controversy or a lawsuit. I respect Curt Shilling as a pitcher but because of this incident I lost a lot of respect for him as a person. I also lost some respect for the Boston Red Soxs club as a whole because he represents the club and his comments reflect on the entire organization. So he should really think hard about what he's going to say before he says it. Just because you can pitch with a bloody sock, doesnt make you a good person. He is a public figure and role model and he needs to start acting like one and less like a little kid.Baseball-is there such a thing as a delayed dead ball?
nopeI am not buying it, only because of the fact that his manager openly admits that he twisted Schilling's arm afterward. The manager didn't want his team distracted by outside stuff.
So Schilling issued an apology that he was forced into by his manager. Still, I personally intend to let it go, I would rather focus on baseball and the rest of the season.
Is this unsportsmanlike behavior.?
i don't think he's a nasty person, what i think is that he opens his mouth too much and has a big ego...i'm all for people who speak their minds, but when they do they should make sure that what they're saying is either just an opinion or a proven fact, not a falsehood posing as fact, and that's exactly what schilling's comments werehe feels that because he has a blog and media power and most importantly a reputation for being an outspoken person he can just slander people unfairly, and that's maybe what bothers me the most...i actually can't stand bonds, but still he doesn't deserve to have whatever is left of his good name destroyed unfairly by one of his peers
do i buy his apology? yes, because i think he realizes now that what he did was wrong, but it certainly doesn't affect my opinion of him
Why don't baseball standings adopt columns listing runs for and runs against.?
Curt apologized to save his image on this one, it is hard to be mad at the guy when he was talking about one of the worst human beings on the planet. He said what everyone believes that Bonds is a fraud. While he shouldn't have been the one to say it, what he said was true. I think we should believe the apologyI am buying it.
He has always been a person to say what he thinks.
He never said he was wrong, he said he was wrong to talk about it publicly, which he was. He hurt a lot of people, not to mention his team mates, family, friends and his team. Francona was not happy being dragged into it.
He regrets talking about it publicly, and for dragging his manager into it, he is not sorry for thinking what he said was true.
I think Schilling is ok, I like the work he has done for charity, and his blog, answering a ton of fan's questions, a ton of questions, but at times, and this is one of them, having someone following him around to tell him to shut up, isn't a bad idea.
Curt Schilling is pond scum. He has always had a big mouth and one of these days someone is going to pop him right in "that big mouth. I'm no fan of "Barry Steroid" but Schilling got personal and that ain't cool at all. I'd like to see Bonds hit a line drive right back at the mound when Schilling is pitching this coming June. Of course I hope Schilling turns around a nails him during the next at bat. Big fight and they both get tossed!
Curt Schilling only said what everyone is thinking.
Give it a rest and MOVE ON!
