Baseball training help?
Question:i am a 170 pound 13 year old boy and have 5 months to train for baseball tryouts
how should i train should i run,lift weights ,
and also what should be my diet
Answers:
if your a pitcher- go to closest training facility and get lessons from instructor... work on long toss 4-5 times a week.. eat a lot of protein and fruits.. work on getting stamina...work on the towel drill (WITH NO BALL)- go through windup and slap towel on ground bending over as far as you can.
any other position you really just need to work on basic fundamentals. have your parents or a friend hit you ground balls every other day. High school ball isnt the hardest thing in the world. if you dont screw around and slack off you have no chance though. show the coaches respect.
GOOD LUCK

You are a big boy, you need to run, no cokes or carbinated drinks and kill the snacks and greasy foods. Why is there such animosity between Yankees and Red Sox fans? Isn't it just a game?
First things first....you have good size for your age, so try to stay away from the weights until you get into high school. You can do other things like exercises which require you to use your own body weight. Look for sport specific training online, or plyometrics is something a lot of professional athletes are using. Doing push-ups, sit-ups, leg lifts, and other calnestetics will help you to build your "core" strength and your cardio vascular endurance. Work on your eye and hand coordination. There are a lot of excercises that you can find online and do to sharpen this skill set and I don't mean Playstation or Xbox.
Hitting is one of the toughest things to do in all of sport. I am 31 years old, and I still use a tee. This has helped me (through the years) to concentrate on keeping my head and eye on the ball. I have a tee that sets up high/ low, and inside/outside. They can be a little pricey, but you can find them for 20-25 dollars.
Throwing..try to throw everyday. Even if it's a rubber ball against the wall. Work your way in long tossing which will help you to develop arm strength and length of throws.
A good thing for tryouts is to be strong throuhout the tryout and not show signs of fatigue at the end. Always support other players (congratulate them on good plays, or a good hit)regardless of the fact that you probably are competing for the same spot. Doing something for at least an hour a day until tryouts will help.
Finally, I can only tell you that doing well in a tryout depends on you, so..BE CONFIDENT. Go out there and do your best because your talents and abilities will come naturally. Also, remember that baseball is a game, go out there and have fun, because thats whats most important (besides winning).
P.S.- As far as your diet goes, try to stay away from fast food and stick to the home cooked meals.
