Why does college baseball still use metal bats? Why not wood bats?
Question:

What is fastest softball pitch speed ever recorded?
Only one justifiable reason. $$$$$Colleges cannot afford to buy each player 60-70 bats a season, and they would go through that many very easily using wood. Virtually every college baseball team operates deep in the red as it is right now.
because when you go pro you use metal and your not on a little leauge team
Fernando Rodney is a complete bum, why does Jim Leyland keep putting him in?
Ive never really known why they do that but it might be for safety. Metal bats have more 'pop' to them so they could hit it further also.i don't know. until someone gets killed
because they would have to change them every day if they were wooden and they want to save money
Roger Clemens to the Yankees... They are a World Series team now?! NOT!?
so that the bats can't be "corked". meaning they can't rig metal bats to hit harder and farther like they can wooden. What is the greatest brawl in baseball history?
No Patricia. Pros use wood bats. It is to save money. While aluminum bats are expensive (around $300-$400) that is nothing in comparison to the overall cost of 100s of wood bats in order to supply enough for an entire team.
here is the answer I posted to a similar question and college plays about 55 games instead of HS 25.
If a Team breaks one bat per game in HS they will need to replace 25 bats per year at a cost of about 75 dollars ( minimum) per year. An aluminum/ceramic composite/graphite composite bat costs about 300 to 400 dollars and lasts approx 8 to 10 years befopre needing replaced.
There are no studies showing increase in injury due to use of non-wood bats and the rules currently make it such that the ball rebounds about the same from a non-wood bat ( called BESR rating) as from wood. Plus the bat makers would have to change the templates for the 2 5/8 inch barrel that HS requires.
From an economic standpoint, there is no need to ban them.
