since a majority of pitchers are righthanded, it would be beneficial for a team to have as many "regular" left handed hitters in their lineup as possible.3 or 4 of your regular 8 hitters(NL)would be good..of course if your team has one or more switch hitters , that would add to your advantage as does having a strong bench where you could rest those lefthanded hitters if facing a tough lefty pitcher.

The ideal situation would be 4 or 5 because you could alternate right handed and left handed hitting. This makes it tough for the other team at the end of a close game because they would always be just one batter away from someone who hits from the other side of the plate. It takes away the right handed pitcher facing the right handed hitter or the left handed pitcher facing the left handed hitter. I wouldn't have a one if they couldn't hit. The righy/lefty thing can get in the way sometimes. I would want hitters that could hit either right or left handed pitching. If I could find 2-4 good left handed hitters that would be great. Platooning often hampers the development of young hitters, not giving them a chance to develop their skills against the same-handed pitcher. My question is would you take Pujols or Manny out of the line up against a right handed pitcher or Bonds or Howard against a left handed pitcher.
