What pitcher has the most homeruns besides babe ruth?
I watched the Braves vs Phillies, bottom of the ninth the score was 8 to 4 Braves. They brought in the saver and he got the save with a 4 run difference. I also thought it was a 3 run difference but evidently it is a 4 run difference.to get a save, a pitcher has to complete the game after entering with a 3 run or less lead.
What's the origin of the nickname for Moises "Moisture" Alou?
the winning team can only be ahead by 3 runs to get a saveCan u tell me whats the meanin of retired number?
definition of a save from wikipedia:The pitcher fulfills at least one of the following three conditions:
-He comes into the game with a lead of no more than three runs.
-He comes into the game with the potential tying run being either on base, at bat, or on deck.
-He pitches for at least three innings after entering the game with a lead.
Will the Indians surprise people and win the AL Central?
It is when a pitcher is pitching and there is between 1-2 maybe 3 runs they are leading by and another pitcher comes in(usually in the 9th inning) and pitches and they win the game. It is called a save because that pitcher saved the game so that the other team didn't win.Hope that was helpful.
What is the name of Carlos Beltran's walk out music called? What is the artist?
he has to pitch the last 3 innings of a game in which he entered with the lead and never allowed the opposition to tie ir go ahead.Or record the final out with a 3 run or less lead
Or, im not sure about this one, but record the final out with the game tying or winning run on deck...or at bat or something like that
Isn't it funny that the Yankees spend so much money and still need help?
coco has it right. As long as a pitcher pitches 3 innigs and finishes the game, his team could be up by 20 and he'll still get the save. You don't see that scenario very often, if ever anymore. The traditional save entails the closing pitcher entering the game with a 3 run or less lead.I have seen a game where one team was ahead by 1 run, bases full with 2 outs. The relief pitcher came in and caused the batter to make an out. He was the winning pitcher because the old pitcher allowed the base runners to get on base. Final score 1 to zip, zero, nothing etc.
What exactly is the Yankees payroll?
country....the scenario you mentioned in the phils/braves game qualifies for a save under one of the conditions that coco mentioned above "-He comes into the game with the potential tying run being either on base, at bat, or on deck."by rule the lead could have been 5 runs and a save could have been earned. those are unusual situations however...in todays game, most closers come into the game starting the 9th inning, and in that case the lead must be 3 or less for him to qualify for a save.
What is the most "underrated" team in baseball?
Three things can be considered a save:1.) Pitcher comes into the game with a lead of 3 runs or less.
2.) Pitcher comes in with tying run on base, at bat, or on deck.
3.) Pitcher pitches the final 3 or more innings.
In each case, the pitcher has to come in with the lead and finish the game without giving up the lead.
3 or less
Which baseball stadium is your favorite baseball stadium to visit?
theres about 4 ways but i only know 2 1)3 or less runs 2) when the closer comes in with a lead of 4 but has the bases loaded.. because the batter could hit a grandslam and ty up the game which causes a blown save for the closerWhat will happen now with Roger Clemens with the Yankee's?
A pitcher gets a save if they enter the game and the tying run is at the plate so if a relief pitcher comes in with a 8-0 lead and gives away 4 runs and then a few more relivers come in which load the bases again and the closer comes in it would be called a save. If a pitcher enters a game where the lead is at least 4 runs or less then it would be a save if he goes lets say from the 6th inning on and there team scores 10 runs still would be a saveMore Questions & Answers...
