Over head pitching is an unnatural motion, our bodies are made for our arms to swing under, side arm and submarine pitchers use this to their advantage. Lastly depending on how the ball is held prior to release will affect the rotation on the ball, this rotation will affect ball speed, its also how breaking pitches get their break.
